Valery Fokin’s performance “REX” will premiere at the Hungarian National Theater on March 10 and 11. In this respect informs “Russian newspaper”.
This is the second production here by the artistic director of the Alexandrinsky Theatre – in Budapest in 2016 he released Crocodile, based on a satirical story by Dostoevsky, on this scene.
Valery Fokin is the only member in Russia of the International Committee of the X Theater Olympics, which will be held in Hungary this year and one of its first events will be a screening.
The performance is based on Kirill Fokin’s play about an alternative future, where humanity is united in a single situation, but is faced with even more terrible historical catastrophes. The politician who inspired the union wishes to die peacefully of old age, but an android henchman stands in his way. “The performance consists of a series of bizarre meetings and dialogues that gradually reveal the main character’s controversial role in the story, his private life, and his complex personal relationships. In the maelstrom of big ideas and actions, it’s getting harder and harder to maintain one’s true feelings,” write the play’s authors.
Artists from the Hungarian National Theatre, Russian production team includes artist Alexei Tregubov, Igor Kachaev (plastic), video artist Asya Mukhina and composer Anton Yakhontov.
In addition to the Alexandrinsky Theater, another Russian theater participates in the Theater Olympics – the Bashkir Academic Drama Theater named after him. Mazhita Gafuri with the play “Jute”.
Previously in Budapest showed Russian movie Cheburashka.
