In an interview with Channel Five, actor Nikita Kologrivy, who plays the fairy-tale character Emelya in the new film adaptation of the Russian folk tale “By Pike”, talked about what inspired him to create his hero image.

The image of Emelya attracted the actress due to the fact that the heroine finds joyful moments even in difficult situations and does not lose heart. Kologrivy compared his character to Captain Jack Sparrow, the main character of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. He explained that he borrowed some qualities from the hero of medieval Dutch and German legends, Thiel Ulenspiegel. “Of course, I got this incredible quality. I think this is what we have. I mean, genetically in principle in general. The actor believes that in the territory of this huge, harsh, cold jokes, irony, humor exist.

Kologrivov himself does not always manage to be as optimistic as Emelya. “Of course I’m not iron like everyone else. I am also worried and afraid of somewhere,” he said.

28-year-old Nikita Kologrivy made her film debut in 2017, starring in the Oscar films Two Hills, The Balkan Frontier, Devyatayev, Offline, Black Spring and The First.
