Director James Mangold, best known for the Logan comic book movie, the sports drama Ford v Ferrari, and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Hour of Doom movie, is in early talks to direct a DC movie about the humanoid plant Swamp Thing. The Hollywood Reporter writes about it.
The Swamp Thing movie was announced on Tuesday, January 31, among other DC projects that new DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran are working on. At the same time, Mangold’s name was not mentioned in the announcement. But soon the director posted a drawing of the Swamp Thing on his Twitter, and Gunn reposted that message.
According to The Hollywood Reporter sources, Mangold is a huge fan of the character and offered Gunn and Safran his vision himself. But the publication notes that if Mangold is approved for the directorial role, he won’t be able to quickly get to work for the Paramount studio as he has already been assigned to the Bob Dylan biopic.
Previously James Gunn has revealed his plans for a new phase of the DC Universe.
