After twenty years of uninterrupted career spanning seven albums of over 100 songs and five poetry collections, Better known as David Martínez Álvarez derailedher debut novel ‘The approach of the cactus woman and the balloon man’ premieresreflecting on current love and loneliness.
“Today’s society is a the hum of stimuli that do not allow you to think or feel for yourself, You always see yourself conditioned. That’s why it was important for me to put two characters full of stones in their little backpacks and see how they each broke all the prejudices they had about life and their misconceptions about themselves (…),” he pointed out in an interview with EFE.
Considering this novel, which is now in its second edition and considering, “A critique of everything imposed on us”, Rayden notes that there are many references to solitude, more specifically “chosen solitude, which is an act of self-love” (Alcalá de Henares, 1985).
“I love the chosen solitude; actually it’s a privilege because it’s a way of knowing yourself and there, how I describe the characters and their emotions” affirms the artist who is affected by the feeling of being shut down.

Rayden has a long career as an author, including the poetry collections “Herido diario” (2015), “TERMINAMOs y otros poetas infinizada” (2016) or “Amoratado” (2022), among others. He doesn’t know which came first, the novel or the song of the same name that he included on his ‘Homonymous’ album. (2021).
“I think it was the novel first, I wrote the first two episodes, and then I thought of making a soundtrack that would combine my concerns. But when I made the song, it felt like it was the missing theme from the previous album and I needed to remove it now. Then my decision to continue the novel took on its own dimension. They feed back from each other,” she admits with a laugh.
The novel, which was initially considered purely in verse and whose plans were changed at the last minute due to the size of the project (350 pages) and emotional content, also has its own soundtrack.
Each chapter is preceded by a song chosen by the author himself. From the repertoire of artists like The White Stripes, Joan Manuel Serrat, Vetusta Morla, Viva Suecia or Ed Sheeran.
Satisfied with the attention the book has received, the rapper now “opens his arms” and awaits April, when he will release his eighth studio album of 14 songs, “La victoria imposible”. Of these, there will be “significant” collaborations.
“I’m having the happiest years of my life because I can do whatever I wantchoose the music I want and I’m lucky to collaborate with artists I could never have imagined, both nationally and internationally”, “I’m happy with the album and the tour that won’t start with anything” and is progressing as he works on his next novel.
