The eponymous series based on the cult video game The Last Of Us has been officially renewed for a second season, according to Variety.
The remake of The Last of Us was announced by HBO following the release of two episodes of the first season, which received rave reviews from critics and fans of the original game and also garnered record views on their premiere days.
It is assumed that the second season will be based on The Last of Us Part II. Franchise co-author Neil Druckmann hinted at it on his social networks.
“I am so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership, and even to the millions of viewers who have joined us on this journey. The audience gave us a chance to continue the story, and as a fan of the characters and the world created by Neil and Naughty Dog, I can’t wait to dive into this universe again,” said showrunner Craig Mazin.
