ARCOmadrid 2023, organized by Ifema Celebrating its 42nd year next February with a Mediterranean-focused program and a selection of 214 galleries from 37 countries.
The number of selected galleries is more than the 2022 edition, which consists of 185 galleries from 30 countries. The 42nd edition of the fair will be held between 22-26 February 2023..
The General Program will consist of 171 international galleries selected by the ARCO Organizing Committee. About 30 galleries are participating this year, either for the first time or returning after many years.
That’s the case with names like Capitain Petzel (Berlin), Contemporary Fine Arts (Berlin), David Zwirner, Mendes Wood DM (Sao Paulo), Nicolai Wallner (Denmark), Rüdiger Schöttle (Munich) or Timothy Taylor (London).
Names such as Mehdi Chouakri, Neugerriemschneider, Perrotin, Ruth Benzacar, Chantal Crousel, Elvira González, Giorgio Persano, Helga de Alvear, Jocelyn Wolff, Krinzinger, Lelong or Thaddaeus Ropac will repeat in the list selected by ARCOmadrid this year.
The art fair has three curated sections. The main theme of the fair this year is ‘Mediterranean: a round sea’curated by Marina Fokidis, with recommendations from Bouchra Khalili, Hila Peleg and Pedro G. Romero.
20 galleries from 13 countries will participate and will examine the works of artists such as Anna Boghiguian, Iman Issa, Jumana Manna, Mohamed Bourouissa, Silvina Der Meguerditchian, Stefania Strouza, Laia Estruch or Hana Miletić.
Two other curated episodes are ‘Opening Allianz’, which includes a selection from the young international gallery created by Julia Morandeira and Yina Jiménez Suriel.
Curated by Mariano Mayer and Manuela Moscoso, “Never the same. Latin American Art” will feature a selection from Latin America, featuring 11 galleries including Jaqueline Martins, Max Mayer, Karen Huber, Crisis, Proyectos Ultravioleta and Hache. .
