Starting in 2025, the amount eligible for social tax relief increases. Elena Kilinkarova, a practicing lawyer, explained in an interview with the agency that the change will affect how much can be reimbursed and what counts toward the deduction.

Under current law, part of certain expenses can be reimbursed through social tax deductions. Beginning next year, the total cap for social tax deductions rises from 120,000 to 150,000 rubles per year. An expert analysis shows that the maximum refund can reach 13 percent of the 150,000 rubles annual cap, which equals 19,500 rubles per year.

In addition, the deduction for education costs for children and dependents will grow. The cap increases from 50,000 rubles to 110,000 rubles per child, calculated across both parents. The same limit applies to legal guardians and trustees. This means the maximum possible refund for education expenses can reach about 14,300 rubles.

The process for obtaining deductions remains unchanged. Taxpayers should file their personal income tax return with the local tax office after the year ends, or submit the information through their employer before year’s end, just as before.

In December, the President approved a law creating new types of individual investment accounts, now identified as IIS-3. The official document was published on the government legal portal and marks a new step in personal investment options.

In a related statement, the president noted satisfaction with the country’s road construction pace. That update reflects ongoing infrastructure priorities alongside the tax changes described above.
