A Swedish retailer, IKEA, has announced the end of its online sale in Russia as part of winding down its local operations. The company’s statement sets August 15 as the final cutoff for online sales to consumers and business customers. After that moment, the online shop will no longer process new orders, while existing orders can still be fulfilled as agreed, and stores will stay open solely for processing returns and exchanges.

With the dissolution of the Swedish brand, Russians will still access goods produced by local manufacturers and their equivalents. The Ministry of Industry and Trade notes that more than 30 domestic firms participated in collaboration with the brand, and some continue to produce similar items of potential IKEA origin.

Yandex Market

In early August, several Russian plants that supplied IKEA began listing furniture, textiles, and home goods on Yandex Market. A dedicated marketplace page highlights 11 partner suppliers. Participants include AGF-Group from Kazakhstan with the Arua line, Askona, Shuisky Sitzy, and Angstrem furniture holdings. Yandex Market indicates ongoing talks to onboard additional IKEA-related manufacturers to the platform.

On the marketplace page, shoppers can find Arua duvet covers, pillowcases, and sheets. Askona is presenting mattresses and mattress covers as part of the assortment.

Russians will also be able to purchase IKEA pieces directly on Ya.Market, including chairs, stools, coffee tables, TV stands, tables, floor shelves, cosmetic mirrors, laptop stands, and kitchenware among other items. Prospective buyers should act quickly since many models have already sold out and the overall range on the platform is expected to shrink significantly by mid-August as the final sale winds down.

Blueberry and Ozone

Other major marketplaces in Russia are also stocking IKEA-like products from local suppliers. By the end of June, Wildberries had joined the lineup with a broader selection. The Swedish retailer’s furniture range on these platforms includes chests of drawers, benches, blankets, wine tables, mattresses, pillows, curtains, towels, bathroom shelves, kitchenware, and even a line of coffee products sourced from IKEA.

On the Ozone marketplace, shoppers can access a variety of items such as double beds, blankets, chairs, smartphone holders, soft toys, spice pots, cleaning rollers, reusable bags, flower baskets, food containers, chair wheels, cutting boards, and more, all connected to the IKEA ecosystem through local suppliers.

Russian suppliers

After August 15, Russians will have the option to purchase IKEA-like products from local suppliers’ websites. For instance, Billy furniture marketed under the IKEA umbrella is produced by WallyTally, with the line presented on the manufacturer’s site under the same name. Discounts on this furniture range from twenty to thirty-two percent.

Linens for the Swedish retailer were created by Shuisky Prints. Following the halt of cooperation with IKEA, the supplier launched its own Yerrna linen collection, closely resembling IKEA designs, now available through Ozone and Wildberries with discounts reaching fifty percent or more.

Askona supplied about eighty percent of IKEA’s bed assortment. Even though the Russian partner does not plan to replicate IKEA products, its own range includes very similar mattresses such as the Essential and Sleep Expert lines. Blueberries offer substantial reductions on the Basic Comfort model, with even deeper discounts on the Ozone Basic Action.

Other IKEA analogues are appearing on major Russian marketplaces. Towels and waffle towels from the Donetsk plant are sold under the Cleanelly store on the platform, while shelves, racks, and kitchen furniture from Lastra, including HIT and Classic shelves, are accessible through the factory site and Ozone. Pillows, blankets, chair cushions, benches, swings, curtains, and Belvita-branded blankets from Infotex are also available via Ozon. Some items even include specialty food products like Mr.Food cream cheese, supplied to major retailers under various house brands.

Looking ahead, there is potential for Ormatek to introduce analogues of IKEA beds on large markets. The manufacturer plans to offer two mattress models to wholesale partners that match the key specifications of items originally produced for IKEA, with Bergen approximating Malvik and Oslo aligning with Hovag in features.

Sources for these developments include official statements from IKEA, industry notices, and market reports attributed to company representatives and government trade agencies.
