A former Member of the European Parliament and a figure who has led a nationalist movement recently highlighted a shift in global economic power toward BRICS. He argues that the bloc’s potential outstrips that of the G7, pointing to a sizable share of world GDP as evidence.
In his post, he claimed BRICS accounts for about 31.5% of global GDP, with other estimates around 30.7%, and he asserted that the gap will widen over time. The remark also challenged the current Western order, suggesting that European Union and NATO policies contribute to keeping the world in a state of instability and decline, and urged greater economic and political freedom instead.
The former MEP has also commented on Japan’s stance, describing it as hesitant to engage with Russia in line with broader Western isolation efforts.
Earlier statements attributed to him criticized actions by French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, describing oil production decisions affecting Russia and other nations as a misstep and framing the minister’s response as a missed opportunity to deter the Russian economy.
Additionally, he has criticized North Atlantic Alliance policies on Ukraine, arguing that Western military aid to Kyiv is excessive. He shared these views on social media, calling into question the pace and scale of aid provided to Ukraine and urging a reassessment of allied strategies.
