The court postponed the meeting about changing the restraining order for blogger Valeria Chekalina, known online as Lerchek, to July 21 according to a Telegram channel report.
The investigation demands house arrest after Lerchek reportedly spoke with stylist Elvira Jankovskaya during a confrontation linked to a case involving a counterfeit purse. This alleged action, along with internet access, is treated as a violation of the court-ordered restrictions previously imposed.
Lerchek requested permission from inspectors to settle tax obligations through a personal account in a mobile banking app.
Earlier in the day, the Moscow Presnensky Court denied a request to place Lerchek’s husband, Artem Chekalin, under house arrest.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation pressed for a tightening of Lerchek’s preventive measures and for both Lerchek and her husband to be held at home. Since March 16, the couple has faced bans on internet use and overnight stays away from home. In the early spring, Lerchek became a defendant in two criminal cases related to tax non-payment totaling 311 million rubles and money laundering totaling 133 million rubles. Her husband has been accused of aiding and abetting tax evasion.
