According to the Sber press service, at the close of 2022, Sber secured top honors in four distinct categories at the Banki.ru awards. The bank’s Secondary Housing mortgage program earned Mortgage Loan of the Year, SberCard was named Credit Card of the Year, SberStrakhovanie received Insurance Company of the Year, and a pre-New Year evaluation of Sberbank loan products and services was recognized as Special Project of the Year.
The Award’s Expert Council highlighted that the Mortgage Loan of the Year winner managed to preserve appealing pricing for clients across most of 2022, keeping loans affordable for borrowers in every segment despite the mortgage market’s headwinds last year. This achievement reflected ongoing efforts to balance stability with accessibility in the housing finance sector.
Banki.ru noted Sber’s continuous enhancements to the mortgage process, emphasizing improvements in efficiency and customer experience. In 2022, secondary home mortgages represented a substantial share of Sberbank’s total mortgage issuance, and the down payment requirement for secondary residences was reduced from 15% to 10%. Experts also observed that it was sensible to maintain the option of issuing mortgages in the residential real estate market, underscoring a pragmatic approach to home ownership finance.
SberCard, as described by Banki.ru, combines a high credit limit with a straightforward, lengthy grace period. There are no issuance or maintenance fees, and rewards are earned for everyday purchases from partner merchants, which translate into ruble discounts or a cash-back rate of up to 99%.
Experts also drew attention to the reliability of SberSigorta, the breadth and quality of its digital products, the capabilities of the mobile application, and other facets of its service portfolio in 2022.
By year-end, customers had 41% more insurance policies with SberStrakhovanie than in 2021, reaching 12.5 million policies. The most popular lines included bank card and account fund insurance, mortgage protection, and voluntary home insurance.
Over the past year, SberStrakhovanie organized more than 100,000 events, reinforcing its commitment to client engagement and education in risk management and financial planning.
The Special Project of the Year nomination honored Sberbank’s New Year assessment of loan products and services for its broad audience reach and timely relevance. The evaluation approach demonstrated how a major financial institution can deliver practical insights that resonate with diverse client groups during a festive season that often prompts heightened interest in finance and planning.
Banki.ru has conducted this awards program for fifteen years, recognizing excellence across several categories. This edition featured seven prize categories and twenty-eight nominations, reflecting a robust and competitive landscape for financial services and consumer banking in the region.
