Rosstat published a tender on its public procurement website to conduct a study on the inclusion of the cost of housing services in the calculation of inflation. “Izvestia” confirmed that they are investigating this approach.
The cost of such work is estimated at 2.7 million rubles.
They noted that we are talking about imputed rent – the cost of housing services for the maintenance of real estate by its owners.
Experts interviewed by the publication stated that the general rate of price increase could be reduced by including a new indicator in the CPI calculation.
Also, based on the results of the study, the possibility of accounting for imputed rent in inflation in 2023-2024 will be considered.
Previously reportedAnnual inflation fell to 14.87% compared to 15.01% last week. As the agency noted, the biggest contributor to the drop in prices is continuing to make food products cheaper (down 0.33%) due to the fall in fruit and vegetable prices.
At the same time, Igor Safonov, a specialist at the National Research University Development Center Institute of the Higher School of Economics suggestedThat by the end of December 2022 the annual inflation in the Russian Federation will be 14-14.5% or 15.8%. According to him, which scenario will be implemented – the first or the second – depends on the dynamics of price growth in the non-food sector.
