Russians began to take loans more often to buy used Korean and Japanese cars

In 2022, Russian citizens began to take loans more often from credit institutions for the purchase of used cars of Japanese and Korean brands. About author RIA “Novosti” with reference to the work of the bank “Zenith”.

The share of loans granted for such cars in July 2022 increased by 14% compared to July 2021, reaching 58% of the total loan volume. On average, the loan amount per car increased by 20% to 1.2 million rubles (1 million rubles last year).

In 2021, a loan of 3 to 5 years is usually taken for used cars, in 2022 from 5 to 6 years. The period of use of the vehicle purchased with the loan has increased to 6 years.

The bank’s analysts attributed the increase in car loans for used cars to a sharp increase in the cost of new cars and the scarcity of popular European models on the market.

Earlier on August 8, RIA Novosti cited a study by SberAvto WroteHe said that the average cost of a new car in Russia is 2.3 million rubles in June and July, compared to 2.43 million rubles in May.
