Russia expects a decrease in automobile imports 14:44

The volume of imports of passenger cars to Russia will begin to decline in 2025, writes RBC Referring to the materials accompanying the draft federal budget for 2025-2027.

According to estimates, 1.085 million foreign cars will enter the Russian market by the end of next year. This figure will decrease to 916 thousand units in 2026 and to 776 thousand units in 2027.

For comparison: imports of passenger cars to the Russian Federation in 2023 amounted to 1.09 million. Moreover, according to the eight-month results of this year, the delivery volume was 1.5 times higher than in the same period in 2023.

The main reason for the decrease in consumables is the increase in recycling fees. Starting from 1 October rates grew up 70-85%. Thus, the average recycling fee for imported cars in 2025 will be 602 thousand rubles per vehicle, in 2026 – 716 thousand rubles, in 2027 – 798 thousand rubles.

Among other reasons for the decline in imports in the near future, analysts include the localization of Chinese brands and the decrease in demand for cars among Russians.

Russians before warned About the increase in the cost of vehicle inspection.
