Rosrybolovstvo chairman Ilya Shestakov said that despite the decline in catch, a shortage of red fish is not expected before the New Year. His words give guidance TASS.
“We do not expect a shortage. If you look back 10-15 years ago, this is not the minimum that was achieved. At the same time, the price may be adjusted,” Shestakov comments.
According to Rosrybolovstvo’s forecasts, this year’s salmon catch will decrease by half compared to 2023, reaching around 250-250 thousand tons. At the end of last year, Russia became the world leader in salmon production, with a catch volume exceeding 600 thousand tons.
St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (SPIMEX) in August asked The FAS will force fish market participants to report on product prices. It is proposed to add salmon, pollock, cod, herring, mackerel, haddock and halibut to the list.
