Sberbank analysts uncovered a fraud scheme involving an apartment worth 25 million rubles, which criminals created within two months. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
The bank said that the victims of the scammers were several elderly people with higher education. The scammers managed to take the couple’s funds from accounts in different banks and persuade them to take out a loan, as well as start the process of selling an apartment worth more than 25 million rubles.
“Our employees opened the elderly couple’s eyes to what was happening. “The transaction for the purchase and sale of apartments was canceled in time, people managed to keep their living space as their property,” Sberbank said.
It was noted that the assistance to the pensioners was provided by a close relative of the victims, who contacted the nearest branch of Sberbank and shared her concerns about possible fraud with its employees.
