Russia reduced its wine purchases from the EU to the lowest level since 2010 in June. This has been proven data Eurostat.
It was recorded that in June, the European Union purchased 6.3 thousand tons of wine. Less – 5 thousand tons – was delivered to Russia in January 2010 alone.
The volume of wine purchases from France decreased the most (nine times) to 12 tonnes. For France, this was the lowest level since February 1996, when only 10 tonnes of French wine were supplied to the Russian Federation.
Supplies from Germany fell by 20% to 417 tonnes. Portugal and the Czech Republic reduced exports by nearly 40% to 710 and 60 tonnes respectively.
Only Italy and Spain increased their wine exports to the Russian domestic market.
Before that, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported, citing the head of Rosalkogoltabakkontrol Igor Aleshin wroteRussia increased its imports of alcohol by 2% in the first half of the year, he said. Aleshin noted that more whiskey from India began to enter the Russian market than from Scotland, and French wine almost replaced Georgian wine.
