“Victims are receiving emails and SMS with embedded clickable links that may be phishing, redirect to a fake store website, or download malware onto the device,” he said.

Scammers are deceiving people with the promise of selling school uniforms and stationery and giving them as a gift. Khrapunova said that a distinctive feature of fake stores is that the goods are paid for before receiving them, and the seller “disappears” after receiving the money. The cyber expert urged citizens to use the services of marketplaces and reliable online stores to avoid scammers’ tricks.
