Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction, Housing and Public Utilities Sergei Pakhomov said that the ban on the construction of small apartments in Moscow is primarily related to demographic features. His words provide guidance News.ru.
“The decision of the Moscow authorities seems reasonable, considering that the general policy of the state is aimed at increasing the birth rate. The tendency to reduce the area of apartments was obvious. We can not talk about family development <…> and we will encourage the construction of small apartments,” the deputy said.
At the legislative level, a ban is introduced on the construction of housing with an area of less than 28 square meters. m in Russia is not yet planned, Pakhomov stressed.
The MP reminded that this initiative applies only to Moscow. The speaker noted that it is necessary to look at how this policy will be implemented in the capital and what kind of signal it will give to the market.
