Russians’ spending on cigarettes has increased significantly in the first half of 2024. They write that the increase is seen both financially and quantitatively “Vedomosti”.
The publication notes that in the first six months of this year, Russian retail chains and tobacco shops earned 659 billion rubles from cigarette sales. This is 19% more than in 2023 and 39% more than in 2022 (555 billion and 474 billion rubles, respectively).
In the same period in 2024, sales growth in physical terms (number of packages purchased) was 10%.
Currently, the three most popular tobacco brands among Russians are Winston (15.3%), Camel (10%) and LD (8.2%).
July 23 reportedIt was noted that in July, the share of illegal tobacco products on the Russian market decreased from 13.3% to 11.3% compared to the previous year. Tobacco is currently sold in Russia through 278 thousand legal points of sale. This is 67% more than in 2019, when digital labeling of tobacco products was introduced.
