The costs of the state corporation Rosatom and its organizations for environmental protection in 2023 amounted to 29 billion rubles. This figure increased by 18% compared to 2022, according to an officially published report of the Russian state corporation. Web site.

It was announced that the state company invested 6.5 billion rubles in fixed capital for environmental purposes. In 2022, this figure will reach almost 5 billion rubles.

62.6% of invested funds were spent on the protection and rational use of water resources (a year ago – 81.8%) and 23.4% on the protection of atmospheric air (a year ago – 14.7%).

It was also learned that the share of Rosatom’s pollutant emissions will be 0.2% in 2023. The share of production and consumption waste generation in Russia in the total volume was kept at 0.4%.

Rosatom’s electric power division is currently developing technologies in the field of increasing fuel combustion efficiency at used facilities, the state company noted.

The electric power department’s expenditures on environmental protection amounted to 6.2 billion rubles, an increase of 27% compared to 2022.

In Rosatom’s fuel division, electricity consumption was reduced by 3.9% and heat energy consumption by 11.7% in 2023.

Rosatom’s mechanical engineering division also reduces pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions and increases energy savings, the state corporation added.

Thus, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 15.8 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent, and pollutant emissions into the atmosphere decreased by 2.6 tons. Wastewater volume decreased by 44.6 thousand cubic meters.

The mechanical engineering department’s expenses for environmental protection in 2023 amounted to 486 million rubles, increasing by 59% compared to the previous year.
