Roskachestvo will immediately check beans and tuna due to botulism infections in Russia, the head of the department Maxim Protasov said in an interview with socialbites.ca.
“We will immediately conduct research on both canned tuna and canned beans due to the situation with mass poisonings. One of the aims of the study is to detect signs of botulism, Protasov said.
He also announced that shawarma will be re-regulated in Russia.
“We recently conducted a study on shawarma, and the results here left much to be desired. Therefore, we will return to this category after restaurateurs make adjustments to their work and apply the HACCP principles (food safety principles and standards of risk points – editor’s note),” Protasov explained.
In April 2024, Roskachestvo examined 29 shawarma brands. As the head of the department explained, the results showed an extremely depressing picture – only one of the examined products was safe, and the rest had various violations, including dangerous bacteria. Roskachestvo experts found E. coli in 15 brands. Products from two brands contain listeria. One contains Staphylococcus aureus S. aureus.
The interview will be broadcast at 8:00 Moscow time.
