Russians start buying SUP boards more often

The number of purchases of SUP and inflatable boards by Russians in June – July 2024 more than tripled compared to the same period in 2023. The average bill was 29,166 rubles (+20% for the year). These statistics were provided to socialbites.ca by the press service of the analytical resource Chek Index.

Inflatable boats were purchased almost twice as often, for an average of 19,239 rubles (+10% per year). The number of rowing purchases almost doubled, the average bill was 1,140 rubles (+8%). Life jackets were purchased 1.8 times more often, for an average of 1,474 rubles (+10%). At the same time, life jackets for pets were purchased twice as often as last year, for an average of 1,784 rubles (+15% per year).

“Getting on and riding inflatable devices in water bodies is rapidly gaining the attention of active recreation enthusiasts. Advantages such as accessibility, compactness, ease of use and speed have made plant extracts one of the standard features of recreation on rivers, ponds, lakes and the sea.
Sales are driven by strong growth in domestic tourism as well as a growing community of inflatable float users,” resource experts said.

According to them, this summer there are mass swimming and festivals where SUP boards are used throughout the summer. Experts added that the business world is actively using the SUP boarding fashion and developing integrated products and services related to it.

The study was conducted in July 2024.
