Russian pensioners can apply for bankruptcy proceedings to cancel their debts. Lawyer Alexander Shefer spoke about this “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
According to him, if a citizen has a total debt of 25 thousand to one million rubles, he has the right to write off his obligations without going to court through the Multifunctional Center for Provision of State and Municipal Services (MFC). In this case, the main income should be a pension or other social benefits. Also, the citizen should not have property that can be repossessed. In addition, the debtor has not been able to fulfill his obligations for more than seven years, and no proceedings have been initiated against him at the time of applying to the MFK.
The attorney noted that if a person does not meet the criteria for out-of-court bankruptcy, there is the possibility of a court-based bankruptcy. However, this option involves a number of costs, including the cost of collecting documents, fees, procurement, postage and legal fees.
Before reportedIt was stated that 4,363 legal entities were declared bankrupt in Russia in January-June 2024, this figure is 40% higher than in the same period last year.
