The Sber Science Prize has a new category called “Artificial Intelligence in Science”, which will be awarded for outstanding scientific results achieved using artificial intelligence technologies. This was recognized at GigaConf.
The award is aimed at young researchers under 35 years of age. All three Sber Science Prize nominations will include an additional category for young scientists’ use of artificial intelligence in research.
“Artificial intelligence in science. Physical World” – in the fields of physics, chemistry, astronomy, earth sciences and engineering sciences. “Artificial intelligence in science. Life Sciences – in the field of biology, medicine and agricultural sciences. In the field of “Artificial intelligence in science”. Digital Universe” – mathematics (including mathematical methods in economics ), computer science, and information science (including artificial intelligence and machine learning).
Senior Vice President of Sberbank Technological Development Bloc Andrey Belevtsev explained that this was done to determine best practices for the use of artificial intelligence in the scientific process. According to him, this is, on the one hand, another incentive for young people to engage in science, and on the other hand, an indication of the advantages of artificial intelligence, which helps to quickly obtain scientific results and make new discoveries.
Each award-winning group will be awarded 4.5 million rubles and 1 million rubles for cloud computing. Now the total prize fund of the Sber Science Prize, including the new nomination, is 76.5 million rubles. The award ceremony will be held at the end of the year.
