Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said broad energy cooperation with Russia is a growth driver for the Indian economy. Quoted TASS.
“Our trade was between $10 and $15 billion a year. “Today, Russia and I exceed $60 billion, maybe $70 billion,” he said.
Jaishankar emphasized that resources and technology are needed for economic growth. Russia is one of the largest suppliers of energy raw materials and many other categories of goods to the Asian country.
Before reportedIt was stated that the supply of coking coal from Russia to India broke a record. The Russian Federation exported 15.1 million tons of energy to the country at the end of the 2023-2024 fiscal year, which ended on March 31. As a result, the share of Russian raw materials in India’s imports reached 21%. For comparison: in 2021-2022, this figure was only 8%.
