The seizure of the assets of Russia’s largest pasta producer, Makfa, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office does not indicate their real value, but is “the creativity of a bailiff.” This was stated by RBC lawyer Pavel Khlustov, who represented the company in court.

April 1 bailiff arrested Assets worth 100 trillion rubles were presented as collateral against the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office’s request to seize the property of the Makfa company.

According to Khlustov, prosecutors estimate the seized property at 46 billion rubles, and this is the amount stated in the case. The amount of 100 trillion rubles was revealed only at the time of seizure, and the reason for revising the value was not specified.

The lawyer also called the position of the prosecutor’s office a kind of “legal fantasy” that has nothing to do with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The agency bases its requirements on Article 235 of the Civil Code, which provides for the seizure of income unless it can be proven that it was obtained legally, but there is no information that any funds were obtained illegally.

The human rights activist stated that the basis of the demand for the seizure of company property lies in the fact that individuals hold certain positions. We are talking about the former governor of the Chelyabinsk region and former State Duma deputy Mikhail Yurevich, former State Duma deputy Vadim Belousov, as well as their relatives and associates.

The Prosecutor General’s Office believes that Makfa, SMAK, Mishkinsky Bakery Plant and some other enterprises were involved in corruption, as Yurevich and Belousov allegedly combined work in state institutions with business.

The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit against Makfa, recognized 28 March. As Kommersant writes, State Enterprise believes that this company, as well as a dozen other enterprises, including Smak and Chelyabinskoblgaz, are corrupt. Journalists noted that it turned out that the beneficiaries Mikhail Yurevich and Vadim Belousov were also engaged in commercial activities as representatives of government bodies.
