According to him, the proposal is due to the fact that food prices in the country have increased significantly in the last two years. The MP also emphasized that the increase in goods prices often outpaces the increase in Russians’ incomes.
“This painfully affects the poorest layers of citizens, where the lion’s share of expenses comes from food. At the same time, sometimes price increases may be speculative rather than objective. “Instances of speculative increases in food prices have been recognized by the state and therefore a list of essential goods has been established for which the federal government has the right to set the maximum permissible retail prices,” he said.
Ryabokon explained that this list includes beef, pork and lamb, chicken, frozen whole fish, butter and sunflower oil, milk, chicken eggs, granulated sugar and other products.
