Southwind Airlines, which has fallen under EU sanctions, announced that Turkish airlines are at risk of stopping their operations due to “Russia connections”. This was reported by RIA News Referring to Airporthaber.

“This ill-intentioned political decision not only violated the sovereign rights of the Republic of Turkey, but also created a serious problem for other Turkish companies,” the statement said.

The airline states that Ankara must make a strong protest against the actions of Russian authorities, otherwise it could lead to the suspension of commercial activities of any airline from Turkey due to “links with Russia”.

For the first time, people started talking about Southwind’s relationship with the Russian Federation in Finland. The country’s authorities concluded that the ownership share and actual control of the airline lies with Russia, not Turkey. In this context, Finland did not give the air carrier permission to fly between Antalya and Helsinki. Brussels told EU countries on March 8 that the airline was prohibited from taking off, flying and landing in Europe under sanctions regulations. The airspace of the European Union was completely closed to the carrier. Moreover recognizedSouthwind canceled flights from Kaliningrad to Antalya.

The plane previously detained with the Russians flew out from Egypt.
