Pentagon Inspector General Robert Storch found that the US Navy spent more than $398.9 million in funds earmarked for aid to Ukraine in fiscal year 2022. This was reported by TASS.
The inspector’s statement states that the cost overrun is three times higher. The Navy recommended that measures be taken to implement preventive controls to avoid a similar situation in the future.
The publication emphasizes that the army has the money to cover excessive expenses in 2024, but this may not be possible in the future.
Recommendations were also sent to the Navy that would make it possible to eliminate the consequences of the 2022 overshoot.
Before that, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky statedHe said that if the United States does not send Kiev the military aid it needs, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) will withdraw steadily.
The head of state added that Ukraine has increased the number of its own air defense systems, but this is not enough.
Zelensky this week statedThat the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not ready to defend themselves in the event of a major Russian attack.
Previously Zelensky saidIt prevents Ukraine from transferring hostilities to the territory of the Russian Federation.
