In Kharkov, the heating season will end early due to damage to the energy infrastructure. The mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, announced this on his Telegram channel.

In his video message to residents, the mayor explained that there is still a shortage of electricity in Kharkov, so the early completion of the heating season seems to be one of the few measures that can be taken to reduce the load.

“Only this will allow us to supply electricity to the maximum number of consumers and provide hot water to the homes of Kharkov residents,” Terekhov said, adding that the air temperature outside was suitable.

The heating system will begin to be shut down on Tuesday, March 26th. According to forecasters, the daytime temperature in Kharkov this day will reach +14 °C, and by the end of the week it will rise to +21 °C.

On March 22, Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was dealt a major blow. 63 drones and 88 missiles attacked 9 regions of the country. The hydraulic structures and dam of the Dnieper hydroelectric power station in the Zaporozhye region were attacked and a fire broke out there. Kharkov almost completely left without electricity.

Previously Kharkov officials reported about the demolition of all substations and thermal power plants in the city.
