As previously reported by the Central Bank, the mass introduction of the digital ruble will begin no earlier than 2025. Currently, a group of Bank of Russia employees and customers of 13 banks is participating in the experiment. It is planned to increase the number of participants in 2024, but it will still be limited. On December 8, 2023, Russian Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov expressed confidence that in 2024 all Russians will be able to try to open a digital wallet to pay with digital rubles.
