France fined Google another 250 million Euros

Google reportedly received a new fine of 250 million euros from the French anti-monopoly service for failure to fulfill obligations assumed in June 2022 “Kommersant”.

We are talking about non-compliance with the law regarding relevant rights. The measure was adopted in France in 2019. By law, internet companies must compensate publishers and media organizations for the use of their content.

In 2020, the French regulator imposed restrictions on Google for the first time in the form of banning certain actions, as it considered that the company did not comply with the stipulated conditions. In 2021, an American company received a fine of 500 million euros from the antimonopoly service.

France halted all legal proceedings against Google two years ago because it felt the company’s commitments were enough to stop the lawsuits.

However, the French competition authority ruled that Google fell behind on four of the seven commitments it made in June 2022.

Before that in Russia accepted Apple and Google are blocking their smartphones.
