England wants to lay energy cables to the USA

A group of British investors is considering the possibility of laying a transatlantic cable to transmit electricity between the USA and the UK. This was reported by Telegram.

The publication emphasizes that the length of the cables will be approximately 5.6 km and will be located at a depth of up to 3 kilometers under the ocean surface. The publication states that they will transmit electricity equivalent to the output of various nuclear power plants.

Once completed, the installation will provide around 3.6 gigawatts (GW) of electricity to the UK’s national grid, accounting for around 8% of total electricity demand, the publication said.

The publication emphasizes that the plan is currently at an early stage of development.

Previously European Commission announced about plans to phase out Russian gas by the end of the decade.
