Ukraine wants to use existing gas pipeline infrastructure to export hydrogen to Europe. In an interview with an Austrian newspaper on this subject Courier said German Galushchenko, head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
According to him, the European hydrogen strategy foresees imports of over 10 million tonnes per year by 2030.
“We can easily produce 3.5 to 5 million tons,” the Minister said.
He noted that areas that were not suitable for agriculture as a result of hostilities could be used for hydrogen production.
4 March European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson statedHe said that the EU will deny Ukraine gas transit from Russia from 2025.
On the same day, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal aforementionedHe said that his country is ready to expand the transit of Russian gas through the gas transportation system, but only at the request of the European side and within the framework of new agreements with the Russian Federation.
