The most popular holiday destinations for Russians during the March holidays in 2024 were Egypt (24% of tourists), UAE (19%) and Thailand (18%). This is proven by calculations made by Rosgosstrakh and Travelata.ru, a copy of which is in the possession of socialbites.ca.
The average price of a tour to Egypt was ₽167 thousand, compared to ₽142 thousand the previous year. Tours to Thailand were even more expensive – an average of 242 thousand ₽.
At the same time, about 14% of respondents preferred domestic Russian resorts with an average bill of ₽62 thousand (+23% by 2023).
Tourists also preferred hotels in the 4* (38%) and 5* (31%) categories, while they preferred breakfast (41%) and all-inclusive (31%) programs among the options. Only 2% of those surveyed preferred an apartment.
“There are fewer orders for the March holidays than a year ago, despite the longer weekend. Those who decide to relax choose the beaches of Egypt, UAE and Thailand; Russia is no longer in the top 3 this year,” said Travelata.ru Marketing Director Oleg Kozyrev.
The most expensive tour will be from Moscow to Dubai for 8 nights in a 5* hotel for ₽900,936 for three people, including breakfast. And the most budget-friendly is 2 nights without meals in a 4* hotel from Moscow to St. Petersburg for ₽15,806 per person. It is a journey to St. Petersburg.
According to Rosgosstrakh, the leaders in individual travel were Russia, Thailand, Italy, China and Azerbaijan. When purchasing insurance, 43% choose “accident” risk and 15% choose “sports”. 5-14 (50%) and up to 4-day (46%) policies are popular.
“Despite the short weekend, 5-14 day policies are requested. People take holidays by combining them with holidays. The demand for sports insurance indicates that the ski season is over,” commented Olga Kuptsova, deputy director of Rosgosstrakh.
Before that, it was known that the demand for all-inclusive tours in Russia was increasing augmented twice.
Earlier Russians were becoming more frequent to relax in Crimea.
