In total, 123 of 164 WTO members signed the document. The head of the Ministry of Economic Development noted that some states still do not allow the agreement to be included in the general binding documents of the organization.
“But the broad support shows that it is only a matter of time before uniform multilateral rules emerge in the field of investment,” Reshetnikov concluded.
The draft agreement includes universal approaches to providing investors with information on existing regulatory standards, as well as the establishment of basic principles of licensing procedures that simplify the investment process.
