Russian Maxim Marchenko pleaded guilty to smuggling dual-use goods from the United States to Russia. This was reported by TASS citing court documents.
We are talking about microelectronic elements that can be used in both civilian and military equipment. Marchenko, 51, pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering and one count of smuggling of dual-use goods.
Under local law, Marchenko faces up to 20 years in prison on the first charge and another 10 years on the second charge, as stated in New York’s southeastern district court.
