The European Commission (EC) has released nearly €137 billion in EU funds destined for Poland, following efforts to strengthen the republic’s judicial independence. The press service reports that E.C..
“The EC has adopted two legal regulations that will provide Poland with access to up to 137 billion euros,” the statement said.
The EU concluded that Poland has completed two important steps in reforming its judicial system: it changed the disciplinary regime for judges and started using the Arachne browser, which supports the supervision systems of EU countries.
According to the decision of the European Commission, Poland will receive up to 59.8 billion euros from the Pandemic Recovery Fund and up to 76.5 billion euros from the Cohesion Funds. The first arrivals are expected in the coming weeks.
Last January the Polish Sejm updated Supreme Court Act on the release of funds from the EU fund.
