Kazakh bank Freedom Finance (part of Timur Turlov’s Freedom Holding) banned the transfer of money to cards in the Mir payment system. This was reported by Frank Media.

Customers are warned that transfers can no longer be made to cards of the Mir payment system in the Freedom Banker application.

The bank asked its customers to use the SWIFT system, cards issued outside Russia or alternative transfer methods through Tsifra Bank (formerly Russian Freedom Finance, sold to Freedom Holding).

Before this, the US Treasury Department officially introduced Sanctions against the operator of the Russian national payment system “Mir” – National Payment Card System (NSCP).

According to the US Department of Defense, the proliferation of the Mir system has allowed Russia to build its own infrastructure, which has allowed the country to evade sanctions and restore severed ties with the international financial system.
