Russian interest in food distribution increased by 47% last year 07:42

In 2023, Russians spent 917.5 billion rubles on online shopping; In 2022, this figure was 625 billion rubles. Thus, the segment grew by 47%. This has been reported “Vedomosti” Infoline cites research.

According to Data Insight researchers, the delivery volume of perishable foods in 2023 reached 781 billion rubles; this category accounted for the majority of online food delivery. Experts did not take into account the delivery category of cereals, pasta, canned food and similar products in the dry food category.

However, Infoline Analytics General Manager Mikhail Burmistrov emphasized that by the end of last year, interest in delivery decreased, and purchases for future use and delivery gained popularity. According to him, this was thanks to promotions and increased online alcoholic beverage orders with pickup. People also began to opt for self-pickup more frequently due to the shortage of couriers, so delivery itself became charged or more expensive.
