Biljana Borzan, Member of the European Parliament (EP) from Croatia, said that the European Union is facing a new type of inflation, which, among other things, is emerging against the background of the conflict in Ukraine. His words lead the way “lenta.ru”.
The new phenomenon was called “incomplete inflation”. With this type of inflation, manufacturers not only increase prices, but also reduce the quality of goods.
According to Borzan, since the inception of CBO, some ingredients in many food products have been replaced with lower quality ingredients. For example, palm oil began to replace sunflower oil. The diplomat noted that these measures were considered temporary but continue to exist to this day.
“It is particularly worrying that some manufacturers do not inform the consumer about the change in the composition of the packaging and the nutritional value no longer coincides with the original data,” Borzan emphasized.
According to the latest data, annual inflation in the EU was 3.1 percent.
