Institute of Management and Management RANEPA

The oldest Russian business education institution. It was founded in 1988 on the basis of the Academy of National Economy. It was initially called the “International School of Management” and since 1995 it has been called the Institute of Business Administration and Management (IBDA). Another leading university, MGIMO, participated in the creation of the business school. In 1998, the first EMBA courses in Russia appeared at the educational institution (they were designed for top managers). In 2000, IBDA also began offering MBA degrees.

Today, the business school has four faculties and seven departments that teach more than 30 different programs. More than 2 thousand students are studying at the same time. The number of graduates of the institute exceeds 40 thousand people. More than 200 teachers are employed at IBDA. The scientific director of the school’s MBA programs is world-renowned expert Itzhak Adizes.

IBDA is a member of various international and Russian associations and cooperates with leading universities and business schools in several other countries.

The institute ranked 30th in the list of the best business education institutions in Europe in 2022, according to the Financial Times. IBDA has been leading the Russian business school rankings for 12 years. According to the Russian MBA League, taking business courses at IBDA gives graduates an average income increase of 82%, which is one of the best indicators in the country.

Moscow Business School “Skolkovo”

In 2005, a non-state educational institution, Moscow Management School Skolkovo, was registered, and a year later the first enrollment in the educational institution took place.

Among the founders of the school were Russian and foreign companies, as well as individuals. Among them: Ruben Vardanyan, Leonid Mikhelson, Andrey Rappoport, Konstantin Nikolaev and others.

Later, these businessmen became members of the Coordination Board (TC). He took part in examining strategically important issues for the project and examined possibilities for improving local and global business education. The chairman of the Constitutional Court was Vardanyan until 2011, then Rapoport until 2016 (in the same period, he was the chairman of Skolkovo and was on the board of directors until the beginning of 2022). The current head of the Moscow Management School is alumnus Alexander Kim, who has been heading the educational institution since March 2022.

The campus was built in the village of Skolkovo near the Moscow Ring Road. The author of the project was the famous British architect David Adjaye. Since 2010, the Skolkovo Innovation Center has been a neighbor of the business school.

For 2023, the educational institution offers more than 130 educational programs. These include corporate, online, etc., which opened in 2009. There are MBA and EMBA courses. During the entire existence of the business school, approximately 40 thousand people have taken its courses.

Skolkovo is engaged in research activities and carries out active international cooperation. Companies such as Siemens, Cisco and Nokia showed interest in the project. The school has implemented joint educational programs with IMD (Switzerland), HKUST (Hong Kong), the world’s leading business education institutions.

In 2020, the Financial Times ranked educational institutions 46th in the world for the quality of open and corporate programs. A year later, EMBA courses at the business school ranked 58th. In addition, entrepreneurs who received this degree from Skolkovo took 9th place in terms of income. In 2022, Vedomosti newspaper recognized Skolkovo Moscow Business School as the best in Russia.

Institute of Business Administration St. St. Petersburg State University

The idea of ​​​​establishing a business school at St. Petersburg State University arose in 1992, and a year later the institution accepted its first students – 33 people. The first president of the Higher School of Management was economist Yuri Pashkus.

In 2005, the educational institution launched the EMBA program in collaboration with leading European business schools. GSOM campus was opened in 2006.

The institution was the first institution to launch MiM (Master of Management) courses in the Russian Federation in 2009. Four years later, this program ranked 65th in the Financial Times rankings for the first time in the history of Russian business education. In 2015, the institution acquired another modern campus.

In 2019, a laboratory pioneering developments in the field of 5G communications was opened at GSOM. At the end of next year the college adopted a five-year development programme. The institution completed the accreditation process in three of the world’s leading business education associations in 2021. The so-called “triple crown” means that a business school meets the highest international quality standards.

Approximately 1.4 thousand students are studying in various programs at GSOM SPbU. Currently, more than 9.5 thousand people have received college degrees. The educational organization has more than 200 corporate partners.

Institute of Management, Moscow State University

Opened in 1989 (as the Faculty of Business Administration of Moscow State University). The first director was Professor Oleg Vikhansky, Doctor of Economics. In 1995, one of the first MBA programs in Russia was launched at the educational institution. At that time, the educational institution was actively cooperating with Japan. In 2001, the school received its current name. At the same time, VSB received its own building on the territory of Moscow State University.

In 2004, the organization became the only Russian business school to enter the top 100 in the prestigious international QS ranking.

Additionally, GSB was included in the list of the top 40 business education institutions in Europe. The institution launched EMBA courses in 2007. In 2013, rating agency Eduniversal named the MBA program at GSB the best in Eastern Europe.

The institution cooperates with the largest domestic and foreign companies. GSB partners also include more than 40 universities and business schools in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Approximately 600 people receive training at VSB. The number of graduates is 3.5 thousand.
