The ruble managed to capture a record share of the Russian Federation’s payments for imports from Africa and America, but most of them were paid for goods in Europe. This was reported by RIA News According to data from the Central Bank of Russia.

It was noted that the share of ruble in goods imports increased by 2.2% to 31% in December. At the same time, it exceeded the record in payments for goods from American and African countries, with 35.1% and 48.1%, respectively.

It is also reported that the ruble is mostly used in imports from Europe and its share is 49%.

Previously, Head of the Department for Development and Regulation of Foreign Economic Activities of the Ministry of Economic Development Liliya Shchur-Trukhanovich statedHe said that in 2023, the ministry removed more than 30 obstacles that prevented domestic exporters from working in new markets. According to him, over the past two years, measures to support exporters have been adapted to new realities – now Russia’s exports are shifting more and more to the East. “Sometimes this requires a little more financing, simplifying the customer journey for exporters,” Shchur-Trukhanovich said. “Our mission is to expand our presence in foreign markets, look at Africa as a promising market and strengthen our position in Asian markets and the Middle East.”
