Marketplace sellers appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) with a request to check online platforms for imposed conditions, writes “Kommersant”.
The reason for the objection was the “price index”. As sellers explain, in 2023 most marketplaces began to compare the cost of goods on their own sites with those of competitors and assign a higher or lower “price index” to products. This depends on whether a product appears in search results and participates in loyalty programs.
Sellers believe that such a system brings unfavorable working conditions. They stated that prices should be adjusted according to competitors, while commission and logistics costs can vary significantly.
The FAS promised to consider the appeal and bring the issue up for discussion at the next meeting of the expert council on the development of competition in IT.
Before this Wildberries employees sent mass complaint to the prosecutor’s office regarding working conditions. The letter was signed by 271 people.
