The turnover of cash money supply in Russia will exceed 18 trillion rubles in 2023. According to the Central Bank, this figure has increased by 2 trillion rubles. Reports compared to previous year “Kommersant”.

From January to September, the Bank of Russia recorded an increase in demand for cash, but at the end of the third decade the return of funds to the banking system began. It was recorded that the amount of cash in circulation at the beginning of 2023 was 16.39 trillion rubles. In October, this figure reached 18.47 trillion rubles. It fell to 18.04 trillion rubles at the beginning of December, but rose to 18.43 trillion rubles at the beginning of January 2024.

According to the regulator, the largest number of banknotes in the total volume of banknotes is 5 thousand rubles. (38%), followed by banknotes with a nominal value of 1 thousand rubles. (17%), 100 rub. (15%), 50 rub. (8%).
