Moscow Khamovnichesky Court sentenced Larisa Markus, the former head of Vneshprombank (VPB), which went bankrupt in 2016, to 13 years in prison for theft of 156 billion rubles. This was reported by RIA News.

According to investigators, the owner of the bank, Georgy Bedzhamov, and his sister Marcus founded a criminal group in 2009. Marcus made non-refundable loans to the accounts of members of this group.

Bedzhamov is currently hiding in England and the case against him is being considered in absentia. London High Court in the second half of October 2022 accepted Bedzhamova, who is bankrupt in the UK, refuses to comply with the appeal.

Before that, the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Region accepted The responsibility of three former leaders of Vneshprombank, including its former chairman Larisa Marcus, for the accumulation of the bank’s debts, which now exceed 215 billion rubles.
