Russian air carriers complained about the performance of new domestic spark plugs for imported engines on Superjet 100 (SaM146) aircraft. The newspaper writes about this “Vedomosti” With reference to sources.
The publication’s interlocutors said that the problem is that candles produced in the Russian Federation last 10 times less than imported ones. Previously, American Unison Industries’ spark plugs with a lifespan of 1000 hours were used in SaM146 engines. Now these engines are equipped with a domestic analogue produced by the Ufa Aggregate Production Association with a service life of 100 hours.
The need to replace spark plugs more frequently is forcing airlines to increase costs in this area. Annual supply of spark plugs for a Superjet 100 aircraft will cost approximately 11.5 million rubles.
Rossiya has the largest fleet of Superjet 100s. The carrier has 78 aircraft with SaM146 engines.
