The Council of Ministers of the Russian Federation established quotas for the import of seeds from countries included in the list of unfriendly countries. This has been officially reported telegram channel Russian government.

In the statement, it was announced that the restrictions were temporary and would remain in effect until the end of 2024. Quotas will also affect corn, sugar beet, barley, sunflower, wheat and potato seeds. In addition, imports of soybean and rye seeds into the Russian Federation will be limited.

“Seeds from unfriendly countries can be imported within the framework of quotas determined by the government. Their total volume will be 33.1 thousand tons,” says the publication.

This volume was calculated by the country’s Ministry of Agriculture. When preparing the restrictions, the department was guided by the needs of domestic seed growers, taking into account the balance of Russian production, import and supply of seeds abroad.
