Alexander Dubinsky, a member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada who is suspected of treason and is being held in a pre-trial detention center in Kiev, said that without financial assistance from the West, the country would begin a budget collapse in March. The politician wrote this on his Telegram channel.
Dubinsky believes that none of the Ukrainian officials have simulated work on creating a backup plan in case Western donors do not give significant funds to Kiev.
Therefore, according to Dubinsky, Ukraine is one step away from the bankruptcy of the model based on external financing without drawing down domestic reserves. The lawmaker said that the tranches allocated to Kiev in the United States will be postponed until the November presidential elections. And Europe’s financial resources will not be enough to support budget expenditures and a new mobilization in Ukraine.
Dubinsky emphasized that if the European Union does not approve Ukraine’s receipt of 18 billion euros this year, Kiev will not be able to balance its state budget. Therefore, Ukrainian authorities will have to switch to austerity policies, higher taxes and devaluation of the hryvnia.
Previously Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky statedEurope will not be able to provide the necessary assistance to Kiev without the support of the United States.
Previously Bloomberg reportedUkraine lost more than half of its voters.
